As is known it had been stated in the 31.12.2009 dated and 2009/84 numbered circular that all hospitals and treatment units (including Hospital Pharmacies, Dialysis Centers, Private Hospitals, In-vitro Fertilization Centers, Local Health Authorities, Family Physicians and Community Healthcare Centers) the condition that “the drugs with DataMatrix should be notified to the Pharmaceutical Track and Trace System” has to take place. Due to the problems which have been encountered in the practice after the 24.03.2011 dated and 2011/21 numbered circular, the need to share the practice principles with all it may concern arose:

• It is needed that stakeholders who do not have a GLN record in the Turkish Pharmaceutical Track and Trace System must make a GLN application in the Local Health Authorities they belong to.
• Companies and Pharmaceutical Wholesalers need to transfer the DataMatrix information of the pharmaceuticals subject to tender in the as files prepared according to the PTS XML standard in the electronic environment. Stakeholders which do not have the necessary infrastructure to “transfer the DataMatrix information of pharmaceuticals subject to tender in the electronic environment”, can convert the DataMatrix into the proper format using the program published in the official website of the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency.
• Hospitals and treatment units which do not have the necessary infrastructure can use the program which will be published in the official website of the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency to notify ITS of the data received from the companies and pharmaceutical wholesalers in the electronic environment.
• These provisions will be applied for products whose retail prices are above 500 TL published by the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency.
• These provisions will be put into practice after 30.05.2011.
